If your skin looks dull, feels slower to recover than it used to, or simply is not responding to skincare the way it once did, exosome treatments may help. Exosomes can also be used to strengthen hair follicles with application to the scalp. At DRVICTORIA™ we use them the safe, evidence-led way: applied to the skin during microneedling.

At a glance:

  • Consultation: Skin Analysis or face-to-face consultation first.
  • How it works: CALECIM® Professional Serum applied through microchannels created by microneedling.
  • Application: Can be used for skin renewal or hair rejuvenation.
  • Downtime: Minimal, most patients return to normal activities the same day.
  • Course: Usually 2–3 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart.

What Are Exosomes?

Exosomes are microscopic messenger particles that cells use to communicate with one another. When skin cells receive these signals, they are encouraged to behave like younger, healthier cells: producing collagen, repairing damage and calming inflammation.

We use CALECIM® Professional Serum, which contains the patented active PTT-6®, a laboratory-produced formulation containing over 3,000 skin-signalling proteins, including growth factors, cytokines and exosomes.

It is grown from ethically sourced umbilical cord-lining cells under certified laboratory conditions, and the finished serum contains no live cells.

Why We Chose CALECIM®

Not all exosome products are equal. We use CALECIM® Professional because it has published clinical work behind it, including studies reporting reduced redness, swelling and downtime after treatments such as laser, plasma, PRP and microneedling. Each vial also has a pH freshness indicator, helping confirm the serum applied to your skin is active.

We only use exosomes as UK guidance supports: applied to the skin during treatment, not injected. Injected exosome treatments are not licensed in the UK, and we will always be clear about what that means for safety.

What Can Exosome Treatment Help With?

  • Dull, tired-looking skin that has lost its glow.
  • Uneven texture and fine lines.
  • Skin that is slow to recover after treatments.
  • Thinning, fragile or menopausal skin that needs repair support.
  • Supporting faster, calmer recovery after laser, plasma or microneedling treatments.

How Your Treatment Works

  1. Assessment: Confirm if exosomes are right for your skin, or whether another regenerative option (such as polynucleotides or PRP) would serve you better.
  2. Microneedling: Fine needles create controlled microchannels in the skin either as part of gentler microchannel facials or deeper microneedling.
  3. Application: Exosome serum is applied across the treated area and works as your skin begins its repair cycle.
  4. Aftercare: Most patients notice skin looks calmer and less red within hours. Improvements in texture, firmness and glow build gradually over the following weeks as collagen renews.

Are the exosomes injected?

No. The serum is applied to the skin during microneedling, so the actives travel through the microchannels the needles create. Injected exosome products are not licensed in the UK, which is why we do not offer them.

Where do the exosomes come from? Is the product vegan?

CALECIM®’s active, PTT-6®, is produced in a certified laboratory from ethically sourced umbilical cord-lining cells of animal origin. The finished serum contains no live cells. It is not a vegan product - if this matters to you, ask your practitioner about alternatives such as polynucleotides or your own-blood PRP.

How is this different from PRP or polynucleotides?

All three are regenerative, but they work differently. PRP uses growth factors concentrated from your own blood. Polynucleotides are injected to support repair in specific areas like the under-eyes. Exosomes are applied topically during microneedling to signal repair across the treated area. They can be combined, your consultation will identify the right plan.

How many exosome sessions will I need?

Most patients see the best results from a course of 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by a review. A single session can be a good post-procedure boost after laser or plasma treatments.

Is there any downtime with exosomes?

Expect mild redness for a few hours, similar to standard microneedling. Most  patients find it settles faster with the serum applied. Most people return to normal activities the same day and wear makeup from the next day.
