Reclaiming Your Hair: The Power of PRP with the U225 Injector

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy has revolutionized the way we approach hair restoration. By leveraging your body’s own growth factors, this treatment offers a natural, non-surgical solution for thinning hair, early-stage hair loss, and post-transplant maintenance.

At the clinic, we elevate this experience by using the U225 Intradermal Injector for precision delivery and improved comfort.

What is PRP Hair Restoration?

PRP therapy involves extracting a small amount of your own blood (like a routine blood test), processing it to concentrate the platelets (rich in growth factors), and injecting this back into the scalp at the correct depth for the hair follicles.

In hair restoration the growth factors help:

  • Stimulate the scalp environment around active hair follicles.
  • Reduce hair shedding for some patients.
  • Improve hair density and hair calibre over time.

Clinical studies and meta-analyses show PRP can improve hair density in androgenetic alopecia (male/female pattern hair loss), though results vary and ongoing treatment is usually needed.

Are You a Candidate?

PRP is most effective for individuals experiencing androgenetic alopecia or general hair thinning. It works best when follicles are still active; it cannot regrow hair in areas that have been completely bald for many years.

For patients with platelet dysfunction syndromes or low platelet counts - it can be combined with Keravive scalp treatments, exosome or polynucleotide treatments.

Why the U225 Intradermal Injector?

While many clinics perform PRP using manual syringes, we utilize the U225 Injector. This high-tech medical device, inspired by aeronautical industry precision, offers several distinct advantages:

1. Painless Delivery

The U225 is remarkably fast, performing injections with extreme frequency. This speed, combined with the use of ultra-thin needles, overrides the pain receptors in the skin. In addition we a topical anaesthetic spray to maximise comfort. Most patients describe the sensation as a vibration rather than a needle prick.

2. Unmatched Precision

Manual injections can be inconsistent in depth. The U225 allows our specialists to set the exact depth (down to the millimetre) and the precise volume of PRP for every single injection. This ensures the plasma reaches the bulge area of the hair follicle where stem cells reside.

3. Maximum Coverage

With the ability to perform up to hundreds  of injections per minute, the U225 ensures that every square centimetre of the thinning area is treated uniformly. This leads to more consistent results compared to manual techniques.

4. Minimal Downtime

The U225 ensures minimal product loss and very little trauma to the scalp. You can return to your daily activities immediately after the session - although your hair may look unkept due to the anaesthetic spray and you must not wash it until the following morning.

What is the Fagron TrichoTest™?

A saliva-based DNA test that analyses key genetic markers linked to hair loss. The goal is to help understand:

  • Why you're losing hair
  • How your body might respond to different types of treatments

It examines genetic variations that influence:

  • Inflammation of the scalp
  • Hormonal sensitivity (especially to androgens like DHT)
  • Oxidative stress (damage from free radicals)
  • Vitamin and nutrient metabolism
  • Blood circulation in the scalp

This gives insight into what’s really going on beneath the surface of your scalp.

Is PRP safe?

A key advantage of PRP is that it uses a concentrated portion of your own blood, so the chance of an allergic reaction is very low. Because it’s prepared and used within a controlled clinical setting, the risk of disease transmission is also very low .

However, like any injection-based procedure, there remains a small risk of bruising, temporary soreness, or infection, which is why sterile technique and medical protocols matter.

PRP also has a long track record outside aesthetic medicine. Some NHS services offer PRP in musculoskeletal settings, and it’s widely discussed in sports medicine  with high-profile athletes such as Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal publicly linked to PRP during injury recovery.

The Treatment Journey

  1. Blood Draw: A small sample of blood is taken, similar to a routine blood test.
  2. Centrifugation: The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the Platelet-Rich Plasma from the red blood cells.
  3. Preparation: The concentrated PRP is loaded into the U225 Injector.
  4. Injection: The U225 delivers the PRP across the scalp in a quick, painless 15-minute session.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients start with a course of 3–4 sessions, usually spaced about 4 weeks apart, then move to maintenance (commonly every 6–12 months). Your plan depends on your diagnosis, stage of hair loss, and response to treatment.

When will I see results?

Hair growth cycles are slow. Many patients notice reduced shedding and improved hair feel first, with visible improvement typically developing over 3–6 months after starting a course.
