The Power of Regenerative Medicine in Edinburgh
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a cornerstone of our regenerative aesthetic practice. By harnessing the concentrated healing power of your own blood, we can stimulate cellular repair, restore lost volume, and revitalise skin and scalp health.
We’ve provided medically led PRP treatments in Edinburgh for over 15 years, following established medical protocols and rigorous safety standards. Over that time, we’ve treated thousands of patients, focusing on natural-looking outcomes and a careful, clinical approach at every step.
What is PRP?
We create your own bespoke PRP by spinning a sample of your blood in a centrifuge to separate out the plasma layer that contains a higher concentration of platelets.
Platelets aren’t just involved in clotting, they also carry natural proteins called growth factors. Think of these as the body’s “repair signals”. When PRP is applied or introduced into the skin those signals can support:
- Collagen production (helping skin feel firmer and look smoother over time)
- Tissue repair (supporting recovery and improving skin quality)
- Improved micro-circulation (which can help give skin a healthier, brighter look)
Because PRP comes from your own blood, it’s sometimes described as an “autologous” treatment - meaning it uses your body’s own resources.
Our Targeted PRP Treatments
PRP is a versatile treatment and we offer four specialised pathways to address your specific concerns:
1. PRP Bio-Volumiser: Natural Volume Restoration
For those who wish to avoid synthetic dermal fillers, our PRP Bio-Volumiser offers a 100% natural alternative. By gently heating your plasma to create a smooth, bio-identical gel, we can soften the appearance of volume loss to the cheeks, temples, and jawline using only your body’s own proteins.
- Best for: Natural volume, for subtle lifting, and holistic facial contouring.

2. Cellular Matrix™: Targeted Eye Rejuvenation
The delicate skin around the eyes requires a specialised approach. Cellular Matrix™ combines the regenerative power of PRP with the immediate hydration of hyaluronic acid. This synergistic "matrix" is our preferred injectable treatment for brightening dark circles and smoothing fine lines in the tear trough area.
- Best for: Tired eyes, dark circles, and crepey under-eye skin.

3. PRP Hair Rejuvenation: Scalp Health & Growth
Hair thinning can be deeply personal. Our hair rejuvenation protocols use PRP to "wake up" dormant follicles and prolong the growth phase of the hair cycle. It is a non-surgical option to improve hair density and scalp health for both men and women.
- Best for: Thinning hair, early-stage hair loss, and post-transplant maintenance.

4. PRP Microneedling: Skin Health
Collagen Induction (CI) microneedling helps refresh and repair skin by triggering your body’s natural healing response. When it’s combined with a PRP boost, it can enhance results, calm post-treatment redness and support faster recovery.
- Best for: Smooth, firmer, brighter skin with fewer fine lines.

Who is NOT a good candidate for PRP?
PRP is considered a very low risk treatment because it is autologous (your own blood). However, it may not be suitable for individuals with:
- Platelet dysfunction syndromes or low platelet counts.
- Active infections at the treatment site.
- Certain systemic cancers or chronic liver disease.
- Heavy smokers (as smoking significantly reduces the quality of your platelets).
In these circumstance exosomes or polynucleotides may be a better solution.
Is PRP safe?
A key advantage of PRP is that it uses a concentrated portion of your own blood, so the chance of an allergic reaction is very low. Because it’s prepared and used within a controlled clinical setting, the risk of disease transmission is also very low .
However, like any injection-based procedure, there remains a small risk of bruising, temporary soreness, or infection, which is why sterile technique and medical protocols matter.
PRP also has a long track record outside aesthetic medicine. Some NHS services offer PRP in musculoskeletal settings, and it’s widely discussed in sports medicine with high-profile athletes such as Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal publicly linked to PRP during injury recovery.
Natural Results Take Time: Why PRP Works Best as a Course
PRP is a progressive treatment because it works by supporting your skin or scalp’s own repair processes rather than creating an instant “fill”. After each session, your body needs time to respond - releasing growth factors, building new collagen, and improving tissue quality gradually.
That’s why most people achieve their best outcomes with a planned course of treatments spaced a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance when needed. The benefit of this slower, cumulative approach is that improvements in the skin, scalp and hair quality build steadily without a sudden, obvious change.
