Plasma fibroblast treatments are effective for treating many areas of the body, but we particularly use them to repair delicate areas like the eyelids and earlobes where the skin is thin and prone to sagging.
Popular Fibroblast Treatments
We use the the original world leading Plasmage plasma pen to perform fibroblasting to perform:
- Eyelid Tightening: A plasma lift for hooded eyelids, offering a non-surgical alternative to blepharoplasty.
- Earing hole repair: Earlobe plasma skin regeneration for stretched holes to enable the wearing of earrings again or change the position of the piercing.
- Upper Lip Line Reduction: Plasma skin resurfacing to targets those "bar-code" lines on the upper lip to smooth and rejuvenate the skin.
How Plasmage® Works
Plasmage harnesses the power of plasma energy, a state of matter formed when gases are ionized. During the treatment, the plasma pen generates a small plasma arc - a precise, focused burst of energy that is applied to the skin. This plasma energy heats the skin's surface, causing controlled micro-trauma.
This controlled micro-trauma stimulates the body’s natural healing processes, leading to the production of collagen and elastin - the proteins responsible for skin elasticity and firmness. The result is tighter, smoother, and rejuvenated skin.
Unlike traditional surgical procedures, Plasamage does not require cutting or stitching. Instead, it works superficially to trigger the skin’s natural repair mechanisms, making recovery faster.
What to Expect During Fibroblasting
- Consultation: Your journey starts with a detailed consultation to assess your skin concerns and discuss your goals. This step is crucial to determine whether Plasamage is the right treatment for you.
- Preparation: On the day of the treatment, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the treatment can begin.
- Treatment: The plasma pen is used precisely to your tailored treatment plan. Most sessions take about 30 minutes.
- Sensation: The numbing cream helps ensure the process is as comfortable as possible, but you will feel some heat and a mild discomfort as the skin is very delicate and sensitive in these area.
Fribroblast Treatment Recovery
After the treatment, it’s normal to experience some redness, swelling, and small dot like crusts which will be visible. These are all signs that the skin is healing and should not be a cause for concern. Here’s how to manage aftercare:
- Avoid Picking the Crusts: The carbon crusts will naturally fall off within 2-7 days. Picking them prematurely can lead to hypopigmentation or delayed healing.
- Sun Protection: Protecting your skin from UV exposure is critical post-treatment. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 and avoid direct sun exposure until the skin has fully healed.
- Gentle Skincare: Stick to a gentle skincare routine. Avoid exfoliants, acids, or any harsh products that could irritate the skin.
Are the Plasmage results permanent?
The results of Plasamage are long-lasting but not permanent, as your skin will continue to age naturally. We recommend maintenance treatments every 1-2 years to achieve natural looks that are appropriate for your age.
Is Plasmage suitable for everyone?
Plasamage is suitable for most skin types, but it may not be recommended for darker skin tones due to the risk of hypopigmentation. Your practitioner will advise you on whether this treatment is right for you during your consultation.
Does the Plasmage treatment hurt?
Thanks to the application of numbing cream, most patients find the treatment to be tolerable, particularly on the neck and face. However, you should still expect to feel slight heat or tingling sensation. With sensitive areas such as eyelids, upper lips and earlobes expect mild discomfort.
When to Expect Results
While the initial results are visible once the crusts fall away, the best outcomes appear gradually as the skin continues to heal and regenerate.
To minimise discomfort and downtime we use lower settings which typically a course of treatments is required - each 6 weeks apart:
- Upper lips: 1-3 treatments depending on the depth of the lines.
- Eyelides: 3 treatments.
- Earlobes: 3-6 treatments.
Most patients can see improvements in the firmness and smoothness of their skin 6 weeks after their last treatment.
