Tixel is designed to refresh and tighten the skin, reduce acne scars, and restore a healthy glow.
Tixel uses heat energy to create the same kind of controlled skin trauma as these other energy-based devices, which kick starts the production of new collagen, elastin and growth factors – leaving you with fresher, tighter, smoother skin in the treated area.
How Does Tixel® Work?
Tixel uses Thermal-Mechanical Action (TMA) technology. A handheld device with a heated titanium tip briefly touches the skin. The main treatment tip is packed with 81 titanium pins, and there’s also a smaller tip with 24 pins for getting into nooks and crannies.
Each tip creates a channel of damage into the skin, but the fractions of skin between the tips are left intact, allowing surrounding skin to natural heal with a triggered response to boost collagen and elastin production.
Unlike traditional laser resurfacing, Tixel is gentle enough for delicate skin areas, like the upper and lower eyelids, with less discomfort and quicker recovery times.
What Can Tixel® Treat?
Every Tixel application helps reduce the appearance of sun-damaged skin, restoring an even, healthier complexion. However, we use it for 3 main concerns:
Fine Lines and Crepey Skin
Tixel stimulates collagen production, smoothing fine lines around the eyes, mouth, and crepey skin on the neck and chest (décolletage).
Mild Skin Laxity
Tixel effectively stimulates elastin production, improving skin elasticity and reducing mild skin laxity. Making it particularly effective for tightening loose and sagging skin, causing hooded eyelids.
Acne Scars
Tixel reduces acne scars by promoting skin regeneration. A unique feature is that it can be used during active acne as the heat sterilizes the skin, killing acne-causing bacteria. The microchannels also allow topical acne medication to penetrate deeper into the skin.
What to Expect During Treatment
- Consultation: Your journey starts with a consultation with a doctor or nurse. Together, you’ll decide on your goals and create a treatment plan.
- Procedure: Treatments last 30–45 minutes, but you may want to arrive early for the application of anaesthetic cream beforehand for comfort. The titanium tip makes micro-second contact with your skin, transferring thermal energy to create tiny channels.
Aftercare and Recovery
Most people experience no downtime and can immediately return to their daily activities. Proper aftercare is essential for the best results and a smooth recovery:
Immediately After Treatment
- Skin may feel like mild sunburn, with some redness and swelling for a few hours.
- Avoid creams, lotions, SPF, and makeup for at least six hours to prevent trapping heat in the skin.
In the Days Following
- Tiny scabs (micro-crusting) may form within 2-3 days. Let these fall off naturally—don’t pick or exfoliate.
- Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated.
Sun Protection and Makeup
- Avoid makeup for 48 hours to allow the skin to heal properly and prevent infection.
-
Use SPF 50 daily for at least 2 weeks to protect the skin and prevent pigmentation.
What preparation is required for Tixel® ?
Prior to your Tixel® treatment your skin must have been free from an active tan for 3 weeks. On the day of appointment you should attend with the treatment area free from makeup and fake tan.
Which is recommend for skin lifting: Tixel® or Ultherapy® ?
Tixel® is great at improving skin texture and mild skin laxity - particularly lifting upper eyelids and smoothing lower eyelids. Ultherapy® is better for skin firming, lifting and tightening skin for droopy brows and jowls.
Can Tixel® be combined with anit-wrinkle and HA filler treatments?
Yes, during your consultation your practitioner will create a tailored treatment plan to optimise results for your concerns which can combine other treatments?
Can Tixel® treat stretchmarks?
We recommend combined radiofrequency and microneedling treatments to treat stretchmarks which will produce more noticable results.
When Will You See Results?
Improvements can start to show after one session, with skin appearing smoother and more radiant. However, optimal results typically emerge after a series of treatments:
- Treatment Course: A series of 3–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, is recommended to achieve the best outcomes.
- Longevity of Results: The rejuvenating effects of Tixel can last up to two years, depending on individual skin characteristics and maintenance. Annual maintenance treatments are advisable to sustain results.
- Downtime: Recovery time is minimal, with most individuals resuming normal activities within a day or two. Full skin recovery, including the shedding of micro-crusts, generally occurs within a week.
