Aqualyx® Fat Dissolving Injections

"No double chin on ZOOM, please"

Aqualyx is a safe, effective fat dissolving injection treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area. It produces long lasting results, which means you can banish those annoyingly wobbly bits.

Years of expereince has taught us to adapt the treatment to cause minimal brusing and maximise results.

Aqualyx can be used to treat small, exercise resistant, pockets of fat around the chin, jowls, chest, tummy, thighs, knees and ankles. It is very effective for body contouring, but is not a treatment for weight loss.

Aqualyx® is made up from a plant based compounds that have been refined in a lab environment. Aqualyx® dissolves the membranes of fat cells in the treated area. The fat cells become unstable and break open. The fatty acids contained within the cell are then eliminated by macrophages (part of the body’s immune system) and the liver.

If you are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and are close to your ideal body weight, but have isolated stubborn areas of fat then Aqualyx® might be suitable. Popular areas that we treat are double chins, moobs, saddle bags, inner thighs, cankles and abdomen - including defining a six pack.

If you have significant weight then Aqualyx® is not suitable for you, but other body contouring treatments we offer maybe. If you have recently lost significant weight then the area concerning you may be loose skin which we can improve with skin tightening treatments.

A consultation with one of our doctors or nurses will determine the correct treatment plan for you.

Aqualyx® is not suitable if you:

  • Have diabetes.
  • Have liver or kidney disease.
  • Have active skin problem in the area to be treated.
  • Are taking blood thinning medicine e.g warfarin.

The number of Aqualyx treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Typically 1-3 treatments for small areas, such as the jowls and under the chin, and 2-8 treatments for larger areas such as the thighs. Treatments are spaced at 6 weekly intervals. Your result will show 6 weeks after your final treatment which is when you will have a complimentary review with your practitioner.

Yes, the result is permanent as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight.

Immediately after treatment you may appear red and swollen with some bruising on the treated area. Aqualyx works by causing an inflammatory reaction in the fat cells which can result in swelling for 3-5 days. Therefore, if you intend to have a facial treatment, e.g. double chin where the swelling may be obvious, you may wish to organise time away from work or social engagements.

You will be able to reduce the swelling by using a cool pack wrapped in a clean cloth for a maximum of 20 minutes each day.  You cannot use anti-inflammatory tablets for 48 hours after treatment as this will work against the treatment. The treated area may feel tender and firm for up to 8 weeks post treatment.

During recovery we recommend that you avoid:

  • Swimming pools, spas and saunas for 3 days.
  • Physical exercise for 10 days.
  • Any other aesthetic treatments for 2 weeks.

Aqualyx is a prescription only medicine and under UK law all patients new to a treatment provider MUST have a face to face consultation to check their medical history and determine if the treatment is appropriate for them. This typically takes 30 mins and costs £35. If Botox is not a suitable option for you - your practitioner will advise you of other alternative options that are better suited to achieve your desired outcome.
