Chronic Migraine Treatment

"All you want is a clear head"

A migraine is a common health condition, affecting around 1 in every 5 women and around 1 in every 15 men, which usually begin in early adulthood. If you’ve ever experienced the agony of a severe migraine you’ll know just how debilitating it can be.

If you suffer with chronic migraines you understand how they prevent you from functioning 1-2 weeks every month, which has a deep impact on your life.

While some migraine sufferers find that medication can reduce the severity of attacks, the drugs often leave them feeling detached and fuzzy making it difficult for them to be productive and most importantly they do not prevent the attacks.

Botox® migraines treatment

Botox® injection treatments are proven to effectively help manage chronic migraine conditions and are approved by NICE for use on the NHS, however few NHS authorities provide the service.  Current medical evidence suggest that Botox® injections relax muscles around the head and thereby reduce blood pressure within the brain, reduce the nerves’ ability to send pain signals during a migraine and prevent the nerves from sending signals that will lead to a migraine.

Four quick facts you should know:

  2. It's given every 12 weeks. If you don’t get treated every 12 weeks, you may not get the full benefit.
  3. It's a tiny needle. People say that the injections feel like tiny pinpricks.
  4. It's injected by a highly trained medical specialist.

Adults who suffer with a chronic migraine condition more than 15 days each month with headaches lasting more than 4 hours.

It will take an initial 2 treatments spaced 12 weeks apart to determine how well your treatment plan is working. You should start to benefit from the treatment within 4 weeks.

To maintain results you will need to continue treatments every 12 weeks, which is just 4 a year.
