Microneedling Stretch Marks

Microneedling stretch marks is more effective than dermarolling stretch marks as microneedling pens reach deeper into your dermis to stimulate collagen production at the correct depth.

What causes stretch marks?

Stretch marks are indented streaks that can develop on your abdomen, buttocks, thighs and arms. Depending on your skin colour, these may initially appear as pink, red, purple or dark brown. Over time the colour fades, turning them white, silver or light brown.

Stretch marks are caused by damaged connective tissue in the dermis, the skin's middle layer. As a result your skin may look wrinkled and lined because the collagen structure underneath is damaged. Typical causes are rapid growth through pregnancy or weight / muscle gain.

Stretch mark treatments using microneedling

We use two forms of treatment for stretch marks depending on their size and age. Your practitioner will recommend the best solution for you when they inspect the stretchmarks at consultation:

  • Microneedling pen using the Dermapen
  • RF microneedling with ENDYMED INTENSIF

With all treatment plans for stretch marks you should expect 3 to 5 treatments spaced roughly 6 weeks apart.

New patients must have a consultation to to discuss their concerns and medical history to ensure the treatment is suitable for them.

Why is microneedling stretch marks more effective?

Microneedling pens can be set to reach the dermis at the correct depth to stimulate where the damaged collagen is causing stretch marks.

Bioactive serums combined with microneedling can penetrate to the dermis through the micro channels created by the skin needling.

However, topical creams cannot penetrate to the correct depth and are therefore not effective. The best time to use creams is during the period of rapid growth, such as pregnancy, when they can help keep the skin supple and flexible to reduce the damage from forming.
