By now you’ve probably heard of polynucleotides. We’ve been raving about them since we launched our polynucleotide bioactive serum treatment in the clinic last year, and countless magazine editors, bloggers and influencers have been singing their praises ever since. The results speak for themselves – smoother, firmer and naturally younger looking skin. And now we are delighted to give you even greater choice when it comes to unlocking the potential of polynucleotides. Let me explain about the precision power of our brand new injectable polynucleotide treatment…
Target those problem areas
We all do it – we look in the mirror and focus on our least favourite areas. For example, no matter how blemish-free your skin is, you’re probably zoning in on those dark circles under your eyes, or those fine lines around your lips.
This is precisely where an injectable polynucleotide treatment can help you. It is a targeted treatment that delivers powerful polynucleotides exactly where you need them most. It has been proven to work particularly well on:
- Fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck
- Fragile, crepey, or poorly textured skin
- Hyperpigmentation and dark circles under the eyes
In addition we have a specialised product to work on deeper lines for mature, dehydrated skin.
How do Polynucleotides work?
Polynucleotides have been clinically proven to rejuvenate the skin at a cellular level. They do so by stimulating fibroblast production which in turn encourages the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid – all of which are crucial in creating firmer, smoother skin. They also boost skin quality to calm inflammation and rebalance melanocyte activity resulting in a refreshed skin tone
Is a polynucleotide injectable treatment right for you?
As with any treatment delivered by the DRVICTORIA™ Clinic, we carry out a full and thorough initial consultation before going ahead with any polynucleotide injectable treatment to assess whether or not it is right for you. For example, it is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with a skin autoimmune disease, anyone taking certain medications, or anyone with a history of keloid scarring. It is also not suitable for anyone with an allergy to fish, as the ingredient we use is a filtered, purified and sterilised by-product of the food industry, derived from farmed salmon.
You start to lose collagen after the age of 25, so if you are lucky to be younger than that, this treatment is not for you as you won't see a difference. Between the ages of 25 to 29, with the early signs of collagen loss, this can be a great preventative treatment to slow the process. If you are 30 or over then you should see the regenerative benefits of polynucleotides on your skin.
What to expect at your first appointment
Firstly, I understand that some people might feel a little apprehensive when it comes to injectable treatments. However, throughout the whole procedure we ensure every patient feels as relaxed and comfortable as possible. I usually pop on the radio, have a friendly chat, and ensure you know exactly what is happening next.
I begin by apply the numbing cream to the area to be treated. The treatment is intradermal, so quite superficial, and I would describe the sensation as a little nippy but not deep. I then administer multiple injections of micro-doses using a fine needle, creating tiny bumps on the skin's surface. These tiny bumps, containing polynucleotides, are absorbed deep into the skin over the next 24-72 hours, after which time they disappear.
What happens next?
After your treatment, you’ll likely notice some tenderness and redness. The tiny bumps usually disappear completely in just a couple of days, however bruising can sometimes take up to a couple of weeks to disappear.
It is important to avoid touching the area for 6 hours to reduce any chance of infection. After this time, I recommend using a gentle cleanser but you should continue to avoid wearing make up for 24 hours and avoid strenuous exercise and swimming for 48 hours to avoid the risk of infection. You should also avoid exposure to hot showers, saunas and steam rooms or extreme cold temperatures until the redness and swelling has resolved.
You should also avoid alcohol consumption for 24 hours before and after your treatment, as this can thin the blood and cause more bruising. And finally, don’t forget a good quality SPF to protect your skin.
What I recommend
I recommend a course of three treatments per targeted area, about 3-4 weeks apart. Some people will see results after just the first treatment, but it’s not until 4-6 weeks after your final treatment that you will see the full extent of your results.
These great results will last up to 6 months, at which time you can choose to have a booster session to maintain your results and continue once every 6 months to keep your skin looking fresh and firm.

Why I predict it will prove popular
I recently attended an advanced training workshop for injectable polynucleotide treatments in Newcastle. Led by DermaFocus, here I spoke to medical aesthetic experts, delved into the science behind the treatments in a theory session, and got practical experience administering the treatment to models. I came away feeling absolutely certain that this effective new treatment will prove to be highly popular for all the right reasons.
To find out how I can target and treat your key problem areas with the precision power of polynucleotides, book a consultation with me today.
